What happened

My brother lived a good life. He educated himself for a profession and got promotion after one year's work, to a very challenging position which he managed though so many others had failed in it. He was an organizer like I am myself. Our jobs are very much alike, and the more I get to know about him, the more alike I think we have been, without really knowing it, or realizing it.

But there are great differences too.

Although when going through his purse I feel I am going through my own.... though most films he watched I had seen too.... though the music he listened to is the same I listen to.... though there are really too many similarities in our lives and in ourselves so.... there are differences too.

I believe in God, Son and Holy Spirit - the Holy Triunion, one and only God.

It is the base to my values, to my choices, everything. I hope it is. With God's help it is. I believe in having been saved by God because He loves me, and I believe in God's mercy.

I have also been taught that every human being will be called by God to join Him, to become one of His followers. He will call everyone, and several times. But it is a present we have to accept as a gift from Him. The choice is ours.

My brother made his choice about two years ago. He turned his back to God. He signed himself out of the membership of the church and the congragation.

He never told me because he knew I am a believer. He never told our mother either. Which means that he very well was aware of what he did.

A few days after his decision (which I did not know about) an older lady came into my office to talk about WW2 veteran activities we shared with her. We then also talked about the trips she had made recently. And it was then she said she had always dreamed of being able to see a huge music ffestival that took place in the town where my brother lived in - and which was close to our mother's too. I thought that would be an idea - and took it to my council meeting to be decided - and the council decided to make that life time drean come true. So we booked the bus, and tickets for a bus-load of people, managed to get hotel rooms for all - and then it occurred to me.

My brother had sometimes said that he could drive us from the airport to our farm (to mother's) if we decided to take the plane instead of driving ourselves. It came into my mind and I asked him whether he could drive me this time. He said he would have a chess champ that week-end, but that I'd get his car.
